President's welcome
Dear Colleagues, dearest Friends and Partners,
It is my great honour and with real pleasure that I address you for the first time in the position of ESMD President. I am very thankful for the trust expressed by the Board and all the nice words received from you all after my stepping in this position on the first of January 2013.
The European Society of Microscope Dentistry came into existence in 2007, organizing their very first congress in Amsterdam. Since then, three more very successful events have followed; the biennial congresses in Vilnius and Berlin and an autumn school in Leuven.

During all those years the ESMD Board, organizing committees and partners have dedicated lots of time and efforts to achieve the highest standards of scientific and social program, selecting superb venues and employing professional audio-visual techniques to make the events an unforgettable experience.
However, there were some lessons to learn. In order to grow and improve we took a look at the ESMD activities during all those years and made an evaluation that revealed weaknesses, threats but also strengths and opportunities and brightened new guidelines.
As a result of extensive discussions, the ESMD Board has defined the following goals that will shape the future programs and activities of the Society:
We continue to work! Two new events are planned: Autumn School in Louvain-La-Neuve in September 2013 in cooperation with Université Catholique de Louvain and the 4th ESMD Congress in Barcelona in 2014. More information will be announced very soon, so please, for the latest news, keep an eye on our website.
Dear Friends, today, on behalf of the ESMD, I would like to invite you to join the European Society of Microscope Dentistry and be a part of our fascinating future.
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Laura Andriukaitienė
President of ESMD
